Should I plant potted plants outside in the garden?

garden plant pots

We planted some seeds in pots in the summer that we kept in the house just to add some colour in the house. One pot contains a mint plant, and the other contains poppies. I planted the poppies because it said on the package that they don’t bloom the first year. However, they get very tall so obviously I can’t keep them in the pot permanently. Is it too late to plant them outside now that it is getting cold out? Also, the mint plant is starting to turn a little brown on some of the leaves, so should I plant it outside? I live near Toronto, Ontario.

The woman at the garden store told me not to plant potted tulips in the ground. Will they die if I do?

I just don’t see what difference it makes if they are in the ground or in the pot.

My roommate and I would like to start an herb garden and plant some other flowers around our property. We live in a rental duplex and there isn’t much room to plant. Any tips or good sites for planting in smaller spaces. Can we plant four or five diffrent herbs in a big pot? How can I keep everthing as organic as possible?

Does anyone have a thriving aloe plant, potted and in the house?

garden plant pots

My aloe is growing new leaves, but instead of getting wide and sturdy they are extremely thin and long (10-12 in.), and get bent marks from hanging over the edges of the pot. The pot is about 6 in. in diameter and 6 in. deep. I used bagged gardening soil. The plant was given to me without a tag, so I have no idea what species it is. I’ve tried online gardening sites to no avail, so any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated.
