I need suggestions for perennial plants with white flowers that attract butterflies. I prefer plants that do not grow taller than about 12 inches. I live in Central Florida on the east coast.

I know absolutely nothing about plants. The plants that I was using have died after 2 years. They sat in 2 matching drinking glasses filled with small pebbles and all I had to do was water them, no other maintence was needed.

I would like to plant some perennial plants that flower all summer until frost but the location often will have water sitting for a few days after heavy spring rains. In the summer a thunderstorm may cause water to sit there but only for a day or two. This spot at one time was filled with cattails and took some work to eliminate them.

I am in Zone 5b USA if that helps.

I have read that perennials can die within 3 years, but we have had some plants in our yard for well over 2 decades. (We’re in zone 7). So I don’t understand :X
