Garden Plant Pots

When I had first recieved my dish garden plant the leaves in the pot was shorter & fully bloomed. But as the years went by it began to grow taller/thinner and now it looks more like a hanging plant instead. Don’t get me wrong,It is still very healthy & beautiful. But what I don’t understand is why it has become like it is now? So what I am wanting to know is. Is it normal for this type of plant to become a vine?
